In 2005 he drove for the Jordan team and achieved his first podium placing at the U.S. Grand Prix at Indianapolis in 2005 with the third in only six drivers started. At the same time it was the first podium finish for a Portuguese Formula 1 driver. Moreover, it has not done no driver before him, to finish 16 races without interruption since its debut.
In the 2006 season, he remained in the team, which was now called Midland F1 Racing and started alongside Christijan Albers for the Russian Debutante. Midland itself was sold before the Chinese Grand Prix at Spyker.
For the Formula 1 2007 season
Monteiro has found no place. The Midland-Spyker F1 successor has decided against the Portuguese and German Adrian Sutil as the second master driver.
Since 2007, he competes in the World Touring Car Championship for SEAT Sport team. 2008, he was the second race in Puebla, the first victory on a Seat Leon TDI.
