Tiësto cɛsto ː (born January 17, 1969 in Breda, real name Tijs Michiel Decayed tɛi̯s mixil vərʋɛst ) is a Dutch DJ and producer.

Tiësto started already the age of eight for the work of disc jockeys (DJ) to be interested. In his youth, he then laid as a resident DJ of the small clubs to Spock in Breda. There he was discovered by trend scouts from Rotterdam.

From the mid-1990s he released self-produced tracks under several pen names and in different labels. In 1997 he founded with his friend and production partner Arny Bink, the scene in the now legendary label Black Hole Recordings.

The big breakthrough came in 2000 Tiësto reached with the remix of Delerium Silence (with the voice of Sarah McLachlan), the number three on the Billboard charts. After a few mix CDs of 2001 debut album In My Memory came on the market. The album was a great success, even in the U.S..

In 2002 he was first Mag by readers of British magazine DJ voted the best DJ in the world. 2003 and 2004, he defended his first place. In 2003 he was with Tiësto In Concert, the first DJ, who hung up alone in a stadium (the Gelredome in Arnhem, Netherlands) in front of 25,000 spectators plates.

On 13 August 2004, he accompanied the Olympic Summer Games in Athens, the entry of athletes into the stadium. This is by millions of viewers around the world, probably the biggest gig to date a DJ. In the same year his album came out in 2004 and Just Be Parade of the Athletes. Furthermore, he organized Tiësto In Concert 2, where he delivered in front of 70,000 fans a tremendous show. Tiësto had on 2004 100 gigs, including regular appearances in popular clubs like Amnesia in Ibiza and Gatecrasher in Sheffield.

Also in 2004, Queen Beatrix honored him for his services to the Dutch dance scene with the awarding of the Order of Orange-Nassau with the rank of knight. The ceremony is similar to the award of the Federal Service Cross in Germany.

In 2005, he had a solo show at Disneyland Paris and four concerts in the U.S. (Los Angeles, Washington (DC), Miami and New Orleans) as part of the Tiësto In Concert USA Tour. In the same year was followed by the \"Tiësto CEE Tour 2005\" while he visited cities such as Prague, Bratislava, Zagreb, Belgrade and Budapest. 2006 Tiësto was present in the new edition of the Love Parade.

Since 6 April 2007, Tiësto, a weekly radio show at the Dutch radio station Radio 538th In \"Tiësto\'s Club Life\", he presents contemporary electronic dance music and is in the \"15 Minutes of Fame\" young DJs a platform to present themselves to a wide audience. Originally, the program \"Club Nouveau\" hot, but was renamed due to name dispute after five shows. An international English version is also available as a podcast.

In 2008 Tiësto laid between the 7th July and 22 . September at Privilege every Monday as a new resident DJ on His attitude to his work as a DJ he describes: \"I feel the energy of the crowd and try to return them to form a community.\"
